Where Detroit freight goes wrong
Southeast Michigan is a dense, high-value freight market — which is exactly why it attracts fraud. Fictitious pickups, stolen carrier identities and double-brokered loads concentrate where loads are valuable and plentiful, and automotive parts have been one of the most targeted categories.
The other failure is quieter: a truck that is not confirmed the afternoon before a 6 a.m. plant appointment, and nobody says so until the dock calls.
